Elizabeth "Liz" Hensley is a Chicago-based full-stack software developer whose primary work has revolved around applications in remote-monitoring and healthcare education.
These tools have now been used by 30+ research and clinical spaces across the United States to improve patients’ lives and reduce the burden on healthcare providers in the areas of sickle cell disease, cancer, palliative care, blood and marrow transplants, geriatrics, and chronic pain.
Her expertise lies in clinical app design, user-driven research & development, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, and modern web architecture. She is particularly interested in patient-centered design, improving tech accessibility in healthcare, and leveraging technology to increase access to care across diverse populations.
She earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Carolina Scholar, with a double minor in Music and Astronomy. She is now an incoming graduate student at DePaul University pursuing a Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction.
Liz currently serves as the co-founder and technical lead for Nanbar Health, a health tech company that partners with doctors and researchers to remotely monitor patients and clinical trial participants, while providing advanced health data analytics. Over the past two years, the Nanbar team has focused on chronic pain and building a machine learning model that predicts an individual's future pain based on real-time vital signs to support more effective, personalized pain management.
Liz also works as a Senior Web Developer and UI/UX Designer at Lenovo.
In her free time, Liz enjoys playing the flute and piano, composing latin jazz fusion music, embroidery and other crafts, and caring for her many plants.
